Mother Nature Ready To Bite The Ass Of Clueless Politicians
America’s politicians are so busy punching each other in their partisan guts, because it is election year, again, that Mother Nature is sneaking up behind them ready to bite their ass. … Instead of a Doomsday Clock, at least some type of global climate warning clock, that is WARNING for all those not willing to say WARMING. We need a simple indicator for society showing how unaddressed problems exist and need public attention. The public is paying more attention to reality than those who want to be their leaders. Not only do candidates for leadership refuse to address the serious climate issues we face, but they don’t want to address the fallout from climate change, such as reduced food resources, polluted drinking water, diminished cropland. All these disconnected egos want to address is dollar signs for themselves and their campaign donors.
For all those who hold their hand up and say, “pick me” to be your leader, make them stop talking about trivial issues and misrepresenting the economy as a partisan issue. Time for them to exit their state of denial…
Well, DUH, the economy is directly related to climate change, reduced food production, poverty, middle east conflicts, over development and toxic pollution caused by consumer/manufacturer irresponsibility AND, how could I forget Corporate Greed. The irresponsibility of our leaders is killing us. Our leaders use ‘bait and switch’ to distract the public, so they can get away with further reducing the planet’s ability to sustain humanity. One would think that would be counter productive. Perhaps the global elite think the expensive safety nets they have built for themselves will withstand anything Mother Nature can throw at them. Good Luck. The privileged will be the first to succumb to a real global disaster because their comforts cannot be sustained forever. Primitive tribesmen in remote locations will be left to represent the remains of humanity because they live WITH the earth and do not try to DOMINATE the earth for their pleasure and profit.
IT IS 5 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT
2012: “The challenges to rid the world of nuclear weapons, harness nuclear power, and meet the nearly inexorable climate disruptions from global warming are complex and interconnected. In the face of such complex problems, it is difficult to see where the capacity lies to address these challenges.” Political processes seem wholly inadequate; the potential for nuclear weapons use in regional conflicts in the Middle East, Northeast Asia, and South Asia are alarming; safer nuclear reactor designs need to be developed and built, and more stringent oversight, training, and attention are needed to prevent future disasters; the pace of technological solutions to address climate change may not be adequate to meet the hardships that large-scale disruption of the climate portends.
‘Doomsday Clock’ moved forward. What has scientists worried? CSMonitor January 2012
Scientists say they moved the ‘Doomsday Clock’ a minute closer to midnight because nations are failing to sufficiently address nuclear proliferation, climate change, and other global threats. Citing “inaction” on renewed nuclear proliferation, climate change, and the urgent need to find sustainable sources of energy, a group of scientists has moved the “Doomsday Clock” a minute closer to midnight, saying nations are “failing to change business as usual.”
“Inaction on key issues including climate change, and rising international tensions motivate the movement of the clock,” the group said in its statement. “As we see it, the major challenge at the heart of humanity’s survival in the 21st century is how to meet energy needs for economic growth in developing and industrial countries without further damaging the climate, exposing people to loss of health and community, and without risking further spread of nuclear weapons.”
The clock was moved ahead one minute on January 11, 2012 reflecting the BAS belief that the failure of world leaders to address the rising threat of nuclear terrorism, biological weapons and the threat of climate change. This was the first time it has been moved forward since 2007.
In 2010, the clock was moved back one minute to 11:54.
Since its beginning, the clock has been reset 20 times. The closest to doomsday we have ever been was in 1953 when the clock was set to 11:58. That move coincided with the start of the nuclear arms race.
The farthest away was in 1991. The signing of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty set the clock back to 11:43. It is now 11:55.
