Wounded America On Life Support – Op Ed

Extremists are already re-writing the facts of this tragedy in Arizona, to promote their hatred of Democrats.  They spout that the Democrats are behind the shooting.  They are revising history as it happens and someone out there is going to believe them!

Rep. Giffords was one of 20 members of Congress published on Sarah Palin’s “hit list,” demarcated by an actual gun target.  … the image was on her site, but it’s since been taken down. The graphic is republished here, however. Palin was opposed to the   Congress members because of their support of the health care bill. Further, during the November election, her opponent also ran with the ‘target’ rhetoric, advertising a rally with the phrase, “Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office/Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly.”

How many demonstrations of this illness, afflicting the United States of America, does it take?  America’s Democracy is wounded; freedom to spew hatred is the cause. America takes pride in Freedom of Speech and Demonstration … but shooting Judges, Elected Officials and other human beings is NOT freedom of speech!  My heart is sad at still another misuse and misunderstanding of Freedom.  All I can offer is heartfelt condolences to all the victims.  All I can offer is my renewed determination to use my Freedom to speak out my own heart peacefully.

The growing movement trying to blame this shooting on Democrats is absolutely amazing.  The comments on these blogs and articles will sicken any civilized human being.  Anyone who applauds this and any form of violence is sick and needs to be institutionalized.

Violent demonstrations are NOT the America our Founding Fathers described in the Constitution.  Violence IS what the Declaration of Independence described after listing numerous grievances against intolerable conditions imposed by a remote landlord, micro managing the personal lives and livelihood of its colonists.  The way history is taught today, America’s students are ripe for picking by extremists.  Too many students are oblivious to the reason America exists and how it came to be what we see today.  Most students are oblivious because they are taught the illegitimate distortion of the historical record such that certain events appear in a more or less favorable light;  history that supports and validates specific political and religious agendas.  We are seeing the results of revising history and information to promote specific agendas in America … re-writing American history is criminal.

Misusing Freedom of Speech to ignite the marginally reasonable is not a crime. But, suggesting violence as a political tool should be a crime.

Democracy is not dead yet, but, it is on life support – resuscitation required. Altered facts and politically altered history must cease and desist in America’s classrooms. Our children are being taught by politics and commercial marketing. No wonder we have so much delusion. No wonder they act out. No wonder they hurt people … someone has convinced them that it is the righteous thing to do.
Political factions must no longer decide the contents of school books. We are screwing our future by intellectually blinding our children. Our fates are in their hands when we are elderly. “No country for old men or old women” is our future.

Misinformed students are coming of age to act out the twisted information they have been fed.  It is too easy to compartmentalize these violent incidents as isolated acts of deranged individuals … they are not!  The extreme rhetoric from left and right have succeeded in cutting loose chaos in the form of violence.  Hate is the seed planted in the hearts and minds of our future caretakers.  Is it too late to unload the gun?  Is it too late to remind America that the pen, alone, is mightier than the sword?  Lately, the pen has been used to sharpen swords and load guns and put them in the hands of the poorly educated among us.  What is the solution?  I’m focused on education of facts without spin.   The political-psychological dynamics shaping current political and public policy has fallen lower than civilized society can tolerate. Extremists are already re-writing the facts of this tragedy in Arizona, to promote their hatred of Democrats.  They spout that the Democrats are behind the shooting.  They are revising history as it happens and someone out is going to believe them!

TruthHugger saw this coming – Accelerating the current trend, the Federal Government, as flawed as it is, may be dismantled soon.  The Tea Party may be the tip of the iceberg.  There have always been groups dedicated to reducing federal control and increasing state control.
