GOP Rape Advisory Chart – All Inclusive

October 26, 2012

Just for your educational information, this is the ‘all inclusive’ (priceless) mega-chart that highlights the most memorable GOP stands, decisions and comments regarding RAPE.  Kudos to the artist Charles Gaba, “this is just something I did out of pure anger and disgust with the GOP”.  So grateful someone can illustrate what would take pages to describe.

Legitimacy Denied For Rape and Climate In 2012 Election

October 26, 2012

Why is RAPE more acceptable to debate and argue about, in a despicable way, and CLIMATE CHANGE so taboo?

Is it because CLIMATE CHANGE requires CORPORATE and GOVERNMENT responsibility?  No one wants to make their Corporate Sponsors nervous by suggesting responsible behavior …

RAPE is just a personal crime that GOP Extremists question as legitimate.  GOP is all for embracing babies resulting from rape, it’s part of their God’s plan … The rape victim can be dismissed as an ancillary issue that is experiencing a personal problem.  GOP wants to pick apart this despicable act of assault and degradation, to minimize the victim and celebrate the result.  Tea-publicans make RAPE a public issue instead of a crime. Another day, another Republican candidate in trouble for talking about rape the wrong way. I don’t want them to stop mentioning it, mind you, but wish they could do so with a little humility, and some acknowledgement of the seriousness of the crime itself … and NOT about how a hypothetical pregnant 13-year-old survivor of rape or incest should “make a lemon situation into lemonade.”

Kudos to the artists from BrainWrap and DailyKos for these graphics

For those who care about living beyond this election, and survive the extreme changes that Mother Earth has in store, denying and ignoring CLIMATE CHANGE  is much like RAPE of the PLANET. Yes indeed, the Rape of Mother Earth could be called a “Gift From God”.   It is, however, a Gift to Corporations who refuse to be regulated to act responsibly and consider the consequences of their behavior.  But, this Corporate “Gift” can KILL babies through pollution and abuse of our host planet … Hmmm, betcha the GOP doesn’t want to touch that idea with a ten foot pole.

On Climate Policy, Romney Walks A Tightrope

Romney rarely speaks of climate change; he has written that he believes the planet is warming up. But why it’s happening is another matter. …

Shading Language

Looked at this way, it’s rational for Mitt Romney to tell his conservative base what it wants to hear about climate change. Leiserowitz says that at least makes sense in the current political climate, which is different from what it was during the last election.

“Four years ago, John McCain, the presidential nominee of the Republican Party, had been the primary champion of climate change action in the U.S. Senate for over a decade,” Leiserowitz says.

Romney was strongly in that ‘do-something’ camp when he was governor of Massachusetts. But he eventually changed his tune, as he eyed a 2008 run for president and staked out some more conservative positions.

Yet Leiserowitz says Romney doesn’t want to alienate the majority of Americans, who see climate change as a real issue, so he’s shading his language, “and so he’s trying to walk that tightrope between those two very different positions.”

That position paves the way for Romney to say he doesn’t intend to reduce carbon emissions. The Romney campaign would not provide a spokesperson for this report. But the campaign’s domestic policy adviser, Oren Cass, laid out Romney’s climate policy at an event at MIT, webcast by E&E TV.

“When Gov. Romney talks about a no-regrets policy, what he means is the policies that we can pursue, that will move forward, particularly with technological innovation, to find solutions without having negative effects on our  economy in the interim,” Cass said.

In other words, research, but no action — other than rolling back some of the Obama administration’s climate policies.

WHO CARES WHY???

“My view is that we don’t know what’s causing climate change on this planet, and the idea of spending trillions and trillions of dollars to try and reduce CO2 emissions is not the right course for us,” Romney said at a private fundraiser early in the campaign.

LET’S KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD AGAIN! LET OUR CHILDREN DEAL WITH IT, BECAUSE WE WILL POPULATE THIS COUNTRY WITH CHILDREN FROM RAPE!

… Elizabeth Kolbert: climate policy became the Great Unmentionable  during the 2012 campaign. President Obama did speak about it briefly during his acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention, but he has otherwise avoided it. Romney has a coal-friendly energy policy, and, when he talks about it, he radiates enthusiasm about burning fuels of all kinds; you half expect him to take out matches and show the audience how to light a fire.

Yet arriving at a consensus is vital and urgent. The bargaining required to deal with the country’s debt overhang will create an opportunity to link the tax-rate reforms that Republicans seek to the climate policies that Democrats have advocated. The campaign might have fleshed out the possibility of such a deal; it has not.

In 2012 GOP Race, Climate Policy Is A Non-Issue

Romney, Obama Make History with Failure to Mention Climate Change in Last Debate

So far, Republicans, no matter which version you are exposed to, are not making a lot of sense when it comes to RAPE.  Maybe the GOP is not sharing their plans for children that result from RAPE.  Let’s take a head count of loyal Tea-publicans that reach out and offer to raise the unwanted baby.  Hmmm, can you find any?  Let’s just wait for the RAPIST to get out of jail and hand the child over to them, because they have equal parental rights.  Let’s look closer at this scenario …  Someone who commits rape has a control issue over women … and most likely a mental health problem, sometimes drug related.  After 10 to 15 years, if that much, the rapist walks out free and sees an opportunity for “free money” by declaring a child on his tax return and receiving some kind of assistance.  If that child is female … Hmmmm, delicious.  If that child is a little boy, the rapist has a buddy or an opportunity or a burden.  Hmmm, sell him to a gang?

The act of suicide may have been the most honorable alternative for this rapist, but there is so much more to this story, like how many rapes?  Rape is Rape.

SALT LAKE CITY (Reuters) – A Utah Tea Party activist and Republican fundraiser charged with more than two dozen felony counts of rape and sexual assault has died from an apparent suicide just four days after he was freed from jail on bail, his attorney said on Wednesday.

There seems to be a big disconnect between Tea-publican men and the female image?  Mother Humans, Mother Earth, or just the idea of motherhood?  Obviously they have no problems with the making babies part or making a mess part, it’s just the responsibilities they want to avoid.  So, take the personal rights away from MOTHERs!

OpEd: Hey Ya’ll, We Are NOT Electing A President

October 21, 2012

All the hype and hoopla Americans are enduring right now is BS!  We are told that we are electing the next President of the United States of America. Ha! Wrong!

Americans are electing nothing more than FRONT MEN for political parties and extreme political agendas that have nothing to do with the faces they show you on TV!  The Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee are the next leaders of the so called “Free World”. We are electing Agendas. The poor sucker who becomes the front person for a political party must sacrifice almost everything that has identified them, so far.  Whatever they believed or accomplished in their lives before becoming a candidate, will become nothing more than tools to define a political campaign and a political agenda. So, remember, when you demonize one candidate or the other, you are demonizing what they now stand for.  What each candidate stands for is a prescription for their political party.  I call that BAGGAGE!

WHY?  Both Romney and Obama Avoid Talk of Climate Change

Don’t you think that a changing climate, that effects how our food grows and how it effects drinkable water is awfully important to the economy, too?

What you see on TV, hear on the radio and experience on the internet are nothing more than political agendas masked as credible people with credible opinions.

The actual leadership of the United States of America rests in the hands of the ruling party in the House of Representatives and Senate.  Presidential veto power is limited and can easily be overruled.

Americans are so gullible that they actually think the personalities of each candidate are at issue.  That is what all the deceptive marketing wants you to believe.  Marketing candidates is a well tested science.

If you want to be a RESPONSIBLE voter, know WHAT you are voting for or against and realize that it is NOT the who!

First Native American to be named saint

For the first time in history, a Native American will be appointed a saint by the Vatican. Kateri Tekakwitha is being honoured for the miracles she is believed to have performed from the grave.

Bellingham boy plays role in American Indian becoming a saint

ROME – The Roman Catholic Church, whose missions to convert the natives of North America to Christianity go back nearly four centuries, opens a new chapter in its relations with the indigenous peoples of the continent today when it canonizes a 17th-century Mohawk Indian as the first American Indian saint.

The ceremony honoring Kateri Tekakwitha, born in what is now upstate New York, is set to take place in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican along with that of six others whom Pope Benedict XVI named in December, including Blessed Marianne Cope, a German-born nun who ministered to lepers in Hawaii. Thousands of American Indian pilgrims are expected, many in full tribal regalia, and Hawaii is sending dancers.

American Indians have venerated Kateri from the time of her death in 1680 at age 24 near what is now Montreal, and many cures have been attributed to divine intercession following prayers to her. But it took 332 years for her to reach the pantheon of saints, following what the church deemed a miraculous recovery of a young boy of Lummi Indian descent in Washington from a dreaded bacterial infection.

She was proposed for inquiry in the late 19th century and given “venerable” status in 1942, the first step to sainthood. She was beatified in 1980, the second step in the process.

Kateri Tekakwitha, also known as Lily of the Mohawks, was born in 1656 in what is today upstate New York. At the time, Dutch, English and French colonialists were fighting for control of the territory and brought with them foreign diseases. When her village was hit by a smallpox epidemic, both her parents and younger brother were killed. Kateri survived but was left with scars on her face and seriously impaired vision. It was because of her poor eyesight that she came to be known as Tekakwitha — meaning she who bumps into things’.She converted to Catholicism when she was twenty years old, a decision her uncle, the chief of the village, was very unhappy about. After refusing to marry the Mohawk man who had been chosen for her, Kateri traveled by foot and canoe the 200 miles to a Jesuit-run missionary village near Montreal.

How disappointing can it be that I could find NO mention of this important event on CNN, ABC, NBC or FOX news sources, until days after the story broke.  Guess where I found it first … Hmmmm, Al Jazeera!

After using Google, I discovered the story on Huffington Post, and many overseas news sources.  BBC, Canada, Catholic News sources and Al Jazeera, were the first to break the news. If you Google Kateri now, you will see NBC and NY Times has recently picked up the story about the Mohican girl from the 1600’s, who became a saint.  This story is remarkable on many levels.  The Process of Becoming a Saint is arduous, at best.  The Catholic Church requires many steps, including thorough investigation, consensus and verification.

WIKI:

The following is the list of American saints, including the year in which they were canonized.

Why does American news media miss such a significant event in North American history?  Regardless of your political or religious affiliation, a Native American being Beatified is BIG NEWS!

If American News Media is really to be credible, it will have to cut it’s umbilical cord to the skewed corporate influence that decides what the American people need to know.  Corporations have driven the last nail into the coffin of free speech.  21st Century Journalism in America has disappeared.  Yellow Journalism from the turn of the century has returned.  Thanks to the Politicization of the Court Supreme Court, corporations have succeeded in implementing a Coup d’état, and assumed political and social control of America.  Corporations decide what news Americans need to hear and see.  Americans are the naughty children of Corporate Parenthood and must be disciplined by filtering their news sources.

The Road to Elroy For F1 Wheeler Dealers

October 19, 2012

Tavo Hellmund and Red McCombs: The mind and the money behind the US Grand Prix coming to Austin

We are influenced.  We are led.  We become subjects of an illusion that is designed to influence our behavior, so someone else can profit.  Using basic human instinct to compete, to survive and improve social standing, we follow the most attractive options offered to us … with little scrutiny.

This is the science of marketing. Make it look so good that you cannot pass up the opportunity … it’s always worth the risk.  Just like the small print in a contract, very few bother to pull out the magnifying glass. So, let’s PARTY!

Enter the  Wheeler Dealers, shrewd and sometimes unscrupulous persons, who know how to circumvent difficulties. Someone who can make clever, complicated, and sometimes dishonest business arrangements. Opportunist: a person who places expediency above principle … one who uses secret influence (i.e. pulls wires or strings) for his own ends.

Elroy, Texas and all points east on FM 812 are nothing more than Test Dummies for this great hope for revenue, speed, glamor and the star power of F1.  We are experimental subjects and sacrificial lambs.  The ‘Big Bucks’ won’t be shared with us. But, we can enjoy the show along the roadside as eager visitors rush to spend their money at the track … but not along the way.

Texas taxpayers would foot 1st Formula One bill

  •  Budget rider allows $25 million in state money to be used for fee to bring international race.

  •  Texas taxpayers are putting up the first $25 million in a deal aimed at luring Formula One racing to Austin.

  • … the money, to be deposited in the state’s Major Event Trust Fund, would pay the sanctioning fee London-based Formula One Group charges for the privilege of hosting the first of 10 annual F1 races planned for Austin beginning in 2012.

  •  Austin resident Tavo Hellmund would organize and promote the races.

  •  Texas Legislature’s authorization to use general revenue funds for F1 can be found on page 933 of the 988-page budget that legislators approved a year ago — though mention of a car race is nowhere to be found.

  •   $25,000,000 is appropriated from General Revenue for the biennium beginning September 1, 2009
  •    the money is tied to the passage of the bill that added Formula One racing to sporting events eligible for the trust fund.
  •   the trust fund had not been used in this way before and that officials are still figuring out the details.

Bernie Ecclestone, president and CEO of Formula One Group, announced that Austin would host F1 races from 2012 through 2021. Typically, local organizers must come up with a sanctioning fee, said to be between $25 million and $50 million each year, to pay Formula One.

A press event was the big local roll-out – in between F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone making the initial announcement on his own schedule, and some pretty wild speculation both in and out of the media, they’ve often been chasing the story rather than leading it.

The who: The big name backer is Red McCombs and his investment group. Turns out that, like Ecclestone, he and Hellmund go way, way back. According to Hellmund, it’s not just that McCombs has deep pockets (they don’t put your name on Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium just because you have a nice smile) or that, as the former owner of three pro-sports teams (Minnesota Vikings, Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs), he knows big money sports. Calling him “arguably one of the most respected business people, entertainment and sports legends,” Hellmund explained, “Twenty-one years ago, one of mister McCombs car dealerships was my very first sponsor.”

The who else: An interesting panoply of names cropped up. Aside from Comptroller Susan Combs and developer Richard Suttle, who were both present, Hellmund namechecked McComb’s director of business develoment (and former Longhorn Baseball player) Rad Weaver, ex-MotoGP World Champion Kevin Schwantz (raising the possibility of motorbike racing following F1), and Robert Epstein of the Austin-based Prophet Capital Management. McCombs also said that he’ll be working with the state’s universities to bring them in to the tech park aspect of the facility. He noted the presence of several UT officials, including Athletics Director DeLoss Dodds, who has no little experience in big-scale sporting events. Present and not mentioned was Hellmund‘s “sounding board,” Paul Carrozza of RunTex, again no rookie in this field.

One Commenter lamented:“… bringing F1 here at this time would have the same disastrous result as in Dubai. Hotels and skyscrapers were built to accommodate the F1 track in Abu Dhabi, but people failed to fill the stands and hotels. Bernie Ecclestone might bring us one race, but at $400 a ticket, how many will come?” And:

Racing before human services …”Budget ax likely to fall hard on health services” and “Texas taxpayers would foot 1st Formula One bill”.

Who is setting this state’s fiscal and moral priorities? F1 promoters claim, the $25 million they get from taxpayer dollars will eventually be returned to the people, what happens in the meantime to the children who go unvaccinated; to the folks with compromised state services?

Allowing our elected representatives to place auto racing ahead of health and human services is a disgrace, and it says a great deal about who we are as a people. I am ashamed, and you should be, too.

Here, we have the F1 Circuit of the America EXTRAVAGANZA!  The United States Grand Prix is a motor race which has been run on and off since 1908, when it was known as the American Grand Prize.  Circus Barkers, Bernie Ecclestone, Red McCombs, Bobby Epstein, and race promoter Tavo Hellmund, have sold us a VERY expensive side show. Texas is always attracted to glitter and gloss, speed, glamor and star power  … we are easy prey to fantastic ideas.

Counterclaim filed in F1 land lawsuit

“It will bring INTERNATIONAL acclaim!  It will make us all RICH!”  ONLY after the London Based “Formula One Group” makes their profit.

It will change the lives of sleepy little Elroy Texas and everyone who depends on Farm Road 812 to commute to and from work.  The nearest grocery store, for this end of FM 812, is 26+ miles away, in every direction.  There are grocery stores in Austin, Bastrop, San Marcos and Lockhart, but nowhere near Elroy or Cedar Creek.  We need a REAL grocery store more than a traffic hazard ….

For almost a year, TxDot has been tearing up and replacing parts of FM 812 to the dismay of commuters.  Long waits for huge equipment, reductions to single lanes and detours during rush hour have frustrated drivers. And, OMG the dust, dirt and fumes hanging in the air!  Today, most of the upgrades have been completed, but that won’t last long when F1 traffic starts using FM 812 as a shortcut to the track. That commuter lifeline we depend on will be more dangerous than it already is. Travelers along FM 812 are almost always impatient and tend to pass on the hills, curves and ‘No Pass’ zones.  There are too few shoulders on FM 812 and about once a week you will pass a car or truck nose down in the ditch.

Living in southern Bastrop County Texas has been mostly peaceful … until construction began on the “Circuit of the America’s” racetrack.  At best it used to be a 20 minute drive to work in Austin.  Once construction started, commutes got longer and longer and more dangerous.  Don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate the improvements to FM 812, however, they seem incomplete and ongoing, because the heavy trucking keeps damaging those improvements. Because the road surface has improved, travelers now drive even faster … and there are still no shoulders available the further east you go.  From State Hwy 21 west toward State Hwy 183 is great … until you get to Elroy Texas.  Then it’s stop and go and the air quality is ruined by the dust kicked up by construction.

We are all Test Dummies For Wheeler Dealers

One month out from Austin’s inaugural Formula One race, there’s still plenty of work to be done before the F1 circus arrives for the Nov. 18 race that could attract as many as 120,000 fans.

Taking a closer look at economic benefits claimed for Austin’s Formula One project

F1 world confused about Austin race

F1 is considered the most prestigious form of racing in the world. The cars are lightweight, aerodynamic, extremely fast — and among the most difficult to master in all of racing. …

This is what Austin, Travis and surrounding counties and the little community of ELROY TEXAS was promised …. !

Study projects large economic windfall from F1 race

… would generate just under $288 million in direct economic impact for the area, according to an estimate released Monday by promoters of the race. That spending would produce $26.6 million in new tax revenue for the state, even though the state is committed to spend $25 million to the track promoters …

Sadly, the numbers fail to show what benefits sleepy little Elroy Texas would receive, besides some road improvement …

Race promoter, Circuit of the Americas officers and investors settle lawsuit

The lawsuit between race promoter Tavo Hellmund and Circuit of the Americas officers and investors, including San Antonio billionaire Red McCombs, has been settled, according to circuit chairman Bobby Epstein. Details were not disclosed by either side.  Hellmund was seeking unspecified damages, claiming the circuit had stopped paying his $500,000 yearly salary …

Formula One has failed to establish itself in America, despite corporate sponsors’ need for exposure in the world’s biggest market. Partly because of the steep fees that Mr Ecclestone charges to host a Grand Prix, circuits often end up losing money and stop hosting the event; there has been no American race for the past five years. That will soon change, with Austin, Texas, hosting a race in November and plans for a Grand Prix in New Jersey in June 2013. Red Bull, a team owned by an Austrian energy-drinks firm, is said to be looking at launching a new “Stars and Stripes” Formula One team with American drivers. Local drivers boost audiences.

Downtown ELROY South.

Austin Texas, Travis County and the State of Texas bought in to this “Grand Plan”.  At a time when Oil and Gas prices are volatile, the economy and jobs are critical, budgeting services and over-consumption is under scrutiny, these rich entrepreneurs get together and ignite the audacious scheme called the Circuit of the Americas Formula One racetrack. The ‘Carnival Barkers’  shouted JOBS! REVENUE! RICH SPENDERS! and our State and Local politicians bought the story … literally. ~

The 2012 United States Grand Prix will be the first Formula 1 race held on American soil since 2007. Austin promoters, and those who are looking to pay for this extravaganza, are looking to book concerts, other kinds of races and events to pay for their investment.

I am sure that after a  long while, some revenue will leak out into the small communities of Cedar Creek and Red Rock, east of the track. But, so far we have only been invaded, inconvenienced and shunned.  You do see more and more inflated real estate prices that anticipate a land grab.  Ask local real estate agents and they will laugh at you.

Such an impressive name and promise of attracting global millionaires, has mesmerized Austin and the elitist towns WEST of the track.  Hotels, restaurants and service industries are salivating at the prospect. But, points just EAST of the track are just enjoying some road improvement, long delays, air pollution and heavier traffic.

So, thanks to Texas Wheeler Dealers,  1000+ acres and the promise of 1300+ jobs has dazzled Austin but disconcerted Elroy and the busy Farm Road 812.

Affectionately called CoTA and Formula 1: This rich man’s extravaganza is selfishly excluding the sleepy little town of Elroy, Texas and it’s 200 residents from benefiting from the expected crowds and infusion of revenue.  Austin and Travis County want it all as they fight to annex the race track and exclude the local community.

Downtown ELROY North.

The announcement of Motorcycle races, Concerts and other racing events have been packed into this investment to justify the enormous expenditure of Public Tax Money. “This is a project with many moving parts,” McCombs said Tuesday.  “We are not home yet.”

AUSTIN (KXAN)In four weeks, Downtown Austin will be transformed into a mega party, with Austin Fan Fest all part of the Formula One race weekend.. While there’s expected to be huge crowds, some businesses are worried how they’ll deal with the whole festival’s logistics.

F1 annexation could cost ESD thousandsF1 annexation could cost ESD thousands Annexing the area surrounding the Circuit of The Americas … Annexing the area surrounding the Circuit of the Americas Formula One racetrack could bring thousands of dollars in tax revenue to the city of Austin.  But it is the same money that would be taken out of the pockets of Emergency Service District No. 11.  “We would lose anywhere from $500,000 to $1 million,” said ESD No. 11 Chief Ken Bailey.  ESD No. 11 has four fire stations, including one that sits just blocks away from the CoTA track . Bailey said they will be servicing the area around the track during race week regardless of annexation.

That’s very nice, since there was no environmental consideration when they started demolishing a pristine natural environment …

F1 is filling rooms way outside Austin

F1 is filling rooms way outside Austin  As Austin’s Formula One race approaches, rooms are getting tougher to find anywhere near the track — for that matter, anywhere far from the track, too. Hotel rooms and Bed & Breakfast inns are sold out as far as Marble Falls for race weekend.  “No one expected that to move out this far,” said Peggy Franklin, general manager at the Hampton Inn on the lake in Marble Falls. “We’re 60 miles from Austin so we were all a little caught off guard.”

Travis County sports fans beware!  All your eggs in this basket could be broken:

Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) — A Formula One race in New Jersey was postponed a year until 2014 after organizers “misjudged” the commercial and logistic requirements for hosting the event, series chief executive Bernie Ecclestone said.

“They didn’t really realize how difficult it is to arrange these things, commercially and with everything else,” Ecclestone said by telephone today.

Formula One, the most-watched auto racing series, is scheduled to return to the U.S. for the first time since 2007 on Nov. 18 at a new $300 million track in Austin, Texas.

NO, NO, NO! Elroy, Texas is NOT Austin …

Still set to distract our minds from the 2012 Election Season, the first race will happen on November 18.

On August 15, 2012, a counterclaim has been filed by a Travis County financial manager denying all allegations made against him and other Austin Formula One investors in a lawsuit filed by Texas entrepreneur Hillary Ryan in July.

Kam Kronenberg filed a response and counterclaim in the 126th District Court in Travis County on Aug. 12 against Ryan, principal of Thunderhill Ranch Holdings LP, alleging breach of contract and business disparagement.

The dispute is regarding 78 acres in East Austin that are now part of the Circuit of the Americas facility, which will be home to the inaugural Formula One U.S. Grand Prix race in November.

My Profit Is Worth More Than Your Safety

October 13, 2012

Medicine shows were traveling horse and wagon teams which peddled “miracle cure” medications and other products, between various entertainment acts.  Shaman have been pitching miraculous cures since classical times because they have access to, and influence the world of benevolent and malevolent spirits

Today, Shamans (Product Marketers) have access to, and influence the world of Big Pharma (the Great Spirit) corporations who are becoming more and more like early century “Snake Oil” salesmen. Their entertainment for you, is advertisement.

Today’s product can be just as questionable as Snake Oil mixed in the back room.  Yes, many “over-the-counter” medications are very helpful for several ailments.  But, the big bucks are betting they can convince you to ask your doctor for their specific formula to treat your specific condition. Ask the drug manufacturer if their profit is worth more than a few lives. Marketers schmooze your doctor with payoffs and goodies to prescribe their drug, after they introduce it to you in cute advertisements.

Big Pharma pulls the strings of the lawmakers and regulators.  FDA, at the mercy of Big Pharma, cannot aggressively enforce existing laws and regulations that keep the Pharmaceutical Industry honest. Integrity has been discarded along with safety.  Compounding is the unregulated version of Big Pharma. You probably never heard of the “Compounding” process until it became responsible for the recent MultiState Meningitis Outbreak.

What used to be plain and simple advertisement for a product has become a science on population manipulation.  The goal of producing medicine, faster and cheaper, is to make millions of dollars before any problems are discovered. The normal is unenforced regulation used by corrupt business practices in America. “Large-scale compounders often behave like manufacturers, complete with sales teams that market their products to doctors. And they do not have to abide by the F.D.A.’s regulations, which require that problems with products be reported to the agency. In effect, he said, the companies are circumventing the regulatory process”.

FDA took 684 days to warn meningitis-linked firm: files

BOSTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration took 684 days to issue a warning letter after uncovering serious issues at the pharmacy at the center of the deadly U.S. meningitis outbreak, newly released documents showed.

The New England Compounding Center (NECC) chastised the FDA for taking so long, telling the agency its response time was nearly 18 months longer than the FDA’s average response, according to letters released by a Freedom of Information Act request from Reuters.

FDA: Pharmacy’s other drugs may be causing illness

NEW YORK (AP) — Two more drugs from a specialty pharmacy linked to a meningitis outbreak are now being investigated, U.S. health officials said, as they urged doctors to contact patients who got any kind of injection from the company.  The FDA on Monday expanded its advice to doctors to contact all patients who got any injection made by the company, including steroids and drugs used in eye surgery as well as heart operations. The agency said it took the step “out of an abundance of caution” as it investigates the new reports involving the heart surgery drug and the second steroid, called triamcinolone acetonide.

Meningitis-linked firm sold drugs without prescriptions: emails

BOSTON (Reuters) – The drug-mixing company at the heart of a deadly U.S. meningitis outbreak solicited bulk orders from physicians and failed to require proof of individual patient prescriptions as required under state regulations, emails to a customer show.  Reuters reviewed more than a dozen emails that show the New England Compounding Center, contrary to state rules, sold drugs without requiring physicians to supply individual patient prescriptions.

Another Death Reported in Meningitis Outbreak

Another person has died from fungal meningitis linked to possibly tainted vials of a steroid medication, bringing the death toll in an outbreak to 15, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Saturday.  … The number of people stricken in the outbreak reached 197 on Saturday, up 13 from Friday, the center reported. In addition, there is one case of an infection after an injection in an ankle that has not been confirmed as meningitis.

New England Compounding Sued Over Shot Meningitis Risk

New England Compounding Pharmacy Inc. was sued by a woman who received a steroid shot that was recalled because it was potentially contaminated with a fungus putting recipients at risk for meningitis.

The lawsuit in federal court in St. Paul, Minnesota, was filed by Barbe Puro, who received injections of the steroid methylprednisolone acetate, made by Framingham, Massachusetts- based New England Compounding, to ease chronic back pain, according to the complaint.

Ex-Workers at Firm Tied to Pharmacy Had Safety Fears

BOSTON — One pharmacist said she quit because she was worried that unqualified people were helping prepare dangerous narcotics for use by hospitals. A quality control technician said he tried to stop the production line when he noticed that some labels were missing, but was overruled by management. A salesman said he and his colleagues were brought into the sterile lab to help out with packaging and labeling during rush orders, something they were not trained for.

… because of pressure to increase output, there were a couple of “near misses.” One was when hydromorphone, a powerful narcotic, was made at twice the potency by a pharmacist who was working late to try to achieve production numbers for the day. The error was caught, however, before the bags left the plant.

The emphasis was always on speed, not on doing the job right,” said the quality control technician who tried to stop the production line and who said he was eventually fired over disagreements about safety. “One of their favorite phrases was ‘This line is worth more than all your lives combined, so don’t stop it.’ ”  Both employees attributed the pressure to increase production speed to an aggressive new operations manager focused on the bottom line.

Meningitis outbreak: Massachusetts agencies ‘failed to enforce regulations’

State agencies face questions over enforcement of existing regulations covering compounding pharmacies.  Authorities in Massachusetts have been accused of failing to properly enforce regulations aimed at protecting patients from contaminated drugs, after the death toll from an outbreak of meningitis linked to a medicine made in the state rose to 14.  The specialised compounding pharmacy at the centre of the escalating health scandal is being investigated for breaches of state and federal laws.

US Pharmacopeia (USP), the industry body behind regulations governing compounding sterile drugs. “If someone just enforced Massachusetts law, these cases could have been avoided. They failed in their responsibility for enforcing what they already had.” … Each case has prompted calls for federal oversight of the drug-producers, which are not subject to the same controls as mass manufacturers but whose regulation falls between the state board of pharmacy, the state department of health and the Food and Drug Administration, which regulates the pharmaceutical industry.

Scant Oversight of Drug Maker in Fatal Meningitis Outbreak

…  some doctors and clinics have turned away from major drug manufacturers and have taken their business to so-called compounding pharmacies, like New England Compounding, which mix up batches of drugs on their own, often for much lower prices than major manufacturers charge — and with little of the federal oversight of drug safety and quality that is routine for the big companies.

“The Food and Drug Administration has more regulatory authority over a drug factory in China than over a compounding pharmacy in Massachusetts,” said Kevin Outterson, an associate professor of law at Boston University.

… the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists, estimated that large-scale compounders represented about 10 percent of all compounding pharmacies, but he could not say what percentage of compounded medicines they made.

As state and federal authorities pored over information about New England Compounding last week, there was little agreement among experts on whether the company broke the law by making products in bulk and shipping them around the country.

Compounding falls in a legal no man’s land, between the federal government and the states. The F.D.A. regulates manufacturers, but compounders register as pharmacies, putting them under a patchwork of state rules. The F.D.A. did develop a clear set of rules for compounding, but subsequent litigation that culminated in a Supreme Court decision in 2002 struck them down, and Congress never re-established the agency’s clear authority, Professor Outterson said.

Unfortunately, the list of recalled pharmaceuticals is always vague, litigated and often hushed up.  Always check the CDC and FDA for updates.  There is a reason for that. The ongoing Multistate Meningitis Outbreak was identified in May 2012, but the recall did not happen until September 26, 2012.  Wonder why it took so long?  Could it be that the company makes $2.2 million a year doing what it does best, mass produce a high demand product.  Pain management is a profitable business …  How many fatalities could have been avoided?.

The FDA’s mission is to protect and promote the public health.  However, Pharmaceutical Lobbies create too many roadblocks against enforcing laws and regulations that keep manufacturing ethical and safe. Those roadblocks change priorities to profit over safety.  A few lawsuit settlements are so much cheaper than changing manufacturing techniques that focus on quantity and speed of production instead of quality and inspection.

FDA October 12, 2012 4:00 PM EDT –  Background:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with state and local health departments and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)External Web Site Icon are investigating a multistate meningitis outbreak of fungal infections among patients who have received a steroid injection of a potentially contaminated product into the spinal area. This form of meningitis is not contagious. The investigation also includes fungal infections associated with injections in a peripheral joint space, such as a knee, shoulder or ankle.

Economic Impact Analyses of FDA Regulations

The Food and Drug Administration conducts economic analyses of all important proposed and final regulations. Each economic analysis includes an assessment of the costs, benefits, and cost-effectiveness of the action, as well as assessments of the costs, benefits and cost-effectiveness of the most promising alternative actions. The full economic impact analyses of significant FDA regulations are no longer (as of April 2012) published in the Federal Register but are available on this site.

To compare the effects of proposed regulations with the effects of promising alternatives, we estimate both the incremental benefits and costs associated with increasing the stringency of regulation and the incremental foregone benefits and cost savings associated with decreasing the stringency of regulation.

The information on incremental costs and benefits helps FDA management choose which controls to include and which to exclude when presented with the usual smorgasbord of ways to deal with a public health problem. The economic analysis may also point out ways to increase the cost-effectiveness of regulation. For example, the economic analysis may demonstrate that the incremental costs associated with a particular provision are very high, with little or no incremental public health effects. Identifying such provisions enables the FDA to revise proposed regulations in ways that substantially decrease costs without appreciably reducing public health benefits.

Factbox: Meningitis outbreak spotlights pharmacy practice

The F.D.A. could invoke the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1938, which makes it a criminal act “to introduce into interstate commerce an unapproved drug.” That is what New England Compounding’s products would most likely be considered because the company was doing more than traditional compounding, yet had not obtained a new drug approval, something that large drug makers spend millions of dollars and years to get.

The list of food borne contamination with Salmonela and eColi outbreaks in America, for the past few years, is very long. Food Borne recalls are only slowed down by lobbyists. Waterborne outbreaks reported in the United States are relatively quick because they are mostly community based.  Healthcare-associated Infections (HAI) are slow to be identified and reported. The hospital lobby is powerful. Paid representatives of large pharmaceutical and biomedicine companies in the United States  seek to influence federal government policy. There is a world wide organization devoted to cleaning up the drug and pharmaceutical industry: The Pharmaceutical Compliance Forum (PCF) is a coalition of senior compliance professionals and legal counsel from more than 50 of the largest research-based pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP) is an association representing more than 2,700 pharmacists, technicians, students, and members of the compounding community who focus upon the specialty practice of pharmacy compounding.

There are associations, agencies and professional commissions who hold regular conferences devoted to keeping the pharmaceutical and drug industry honest and safe.

FOURTEENTH PHARMACEUTICAL REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE CONGRESS  –  October 28 – 30, 2013

So next time you hear a politician say he wants to deregulate industry, you must decide what are you willing to give up!  If you expect safe medications, safe food, safe products for your children and a proper education so you can make informed decisions, then regulations are what protect you.  Deregulation is just another way for industry, including the health care industry, to take shortcuts and skimp on quality to provide quantity and profit.  Remember, employees were told that “This line is worth more than all your lives combined, so don’t stop it”.

Ask your favorite candidate if deregulation will really make us all better off.  The answer seems to be a resounding NO!

Corporate Corruption is Status Quo in the United States. Laws and regulations go unenforced, because the enforcement agencies have been depleted by past administrations. Too few regulators is like too few firefighters for a wildfire.  Someone will always get burned …  Regulations protect everyone and will cost a little more, but, at least you can live long enough to complain about it.

If you are in pain, ask a lot of questions.

(CNN) — The ever-expanding outbreak of life-threatening fungal meningitis in back pain patients linked to steroid injections prepared by a compounding pharmacy, which so far has sickened at least 214 people and killed 15 in 15 states, is a public health catastrophe. What is particularly tragic for those who have been sickened or killed by the tainted drug and for their loved ones is that this situation was completely avoidable. … it has used “enforcement discretion” to allow compounding pharmacies to produce these drugs without complying with FDA regulations, generally deferring regulatory oversight to state pharmacy boards.

… the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Massachusetts, one of many compounding pharmacies across the country that has crossed the line between traditional compounding and large-scale drug production. The injectable steroid medication produced at the center was never approved by the FDA and was not manufactured in accordance with the FDA’s rigorous manufacturing standards designed to ensure that drugs are sterile and uncontaminated with such germs as bacteria or fungi before being sold and distributed.

Loud alarm bells were sounded on December 4, 2006, when the FDA issued warning letters to the New England Compounding Center and four other compounding pharmacies, directing them to stop producing standardized versions of medications that, according to the agency, were being “marketed for general distribution rather than responding to the unique medical needs of individual patients.” the center was cited for violations of FDA regulations in marketing four different drugs, including repackaged doses of the cancer drug Avastin into syringes for treatment of macular degeneration.

… the FDA attempted to deflect criticism for its failures by asserting that it lacked authority to take action earlier. This flies in the face of the agency’s long-stated position that it had legal authority over such activities and its prior enforcement activities against the New England center and multiple other compounding pharmacies. While no one wants to be viewed as being responsible for a preventable public health catastrophe, American citizens should express their outrage and demand that all parties responsible for this tragedy — including the FDA — be held accountable.

You must ask your elected Congress Representative or Senator how much money it saved, the American Budget, to cut funding to regulatory agencies and reduce the ranks of inspection and enforcement. Ask your elected representative how any agency is expected to take enforcement seriously, when Congress dismisses the importance of regulations.  Ask your elected representative why they fight so hard to deregulate industries that impact the American Public.  Medical and Health Care has become a Ponzi Scheme that does not appreciate the human lives they put at risk with their greedy techniques.  When quantity takes priority over quality, people die.

VA System Failure, Blame Robot Congress

October 4, 2012

A “Robot Congress” is one that is operated from behind the scenes, by political party platforms controlling their every move. Your favorite Representative or Senator may have had good intentions when you elected them, but when the Washington DC reality slapped them in the face, they turned into ROBOTS! Political Party platforms are determined by contributed MONEY!

Contributed money wants to insure the environment is hospitable to their business profit margin.  Their money will only support politicians who remove or neuter regulations that may cost a bit more than the MONEY Donors are willing to pay!MONEYMONEYMONEY makes the world go ’round”, at least that’s what the big corporations believe and defend.  When the profiteering from wars and conflicts wind down, corporations want to sit back and count their money.  But consequences have a way of intruding on that fun stuff.  Today’s wars have a lot more survivors than deaths.  The survivors are costing more and more to fix.  Big corporations don’t want to pay for those fixes, through increased taxation.  It is sooo much cheaper to donate a million here and there to appear more Philanthropic.

An unrealistic ROBOT Congress has caused a serious VA System Failure, and we All suffer. The ROBOT Congress has to satisfy it’s Party Platform donors who are at best a corporate Oligarchy with Elitist and Misogynistic attitudes that use Evangelism as it”s weapon.

We are accepting damaged goods back into our homes, our families, our churches, our workplaces!  These returning veterans are working very hard to mask what they have experienced.  They struggle to avoid remembering things that still bother them, and may gloss over certain activities they witnessed or participated in.  They don’t want to be reminded about anything they feel guilty about. Damaged Goods is the most impersonal term I can use … Damaged Goods is how Congress and American Society treats anyone returning from a traumatic deployment, with symptoms.  Viewed with a suspicious eye, these veterans are reluctant to admit any effects from their experiences.  With the burden of appearing the same person as before, the act of denial can be hazardous to the veteran and anyone around them.  It is almost fortunate if a veteran has a visible wound to describe their trauma, fewer questions are asked.  But as a society and culture, America and it’s politicians have failed to include the consequences of sending human beings into harms way and expecting them to come home and resume their everyday lives. .

Again and again, reports are flooding the media, that Veteran’s Administration inability to process  the thousands of claims submitted by military veterans.  Many instances the processing time exceeds a year.  What does a year look like to a suffering veteran? Congressional austerity efforts have devastated many government agency services that serve as lifelines for many Americans. With the revenge and glory that America’s current wars represent, those who are sent into harm’s way seldom anticipate the consequences.  Every soldier, contractor and journalist will be changed, whether they admit it or not.  Some of those returning will not discover their injuries for months or even years after they return to civilization. My personal experience includes my neighbor suffering from PTSD triggered by Viet Nam, took his life in 2007. Over the past 5 years I have published articles spotlighting the inadequacies plaguing the Veteran experience.

These are American Veterans from many wars who must struggle for attention from the Veteran’s Administration.  In spite of  heroic efforts by the Veteran’s Administration to attend to their patients, funding and military dysfunction have put impossible barriers on their service.  With reduced personnel and tight funding and preventing fraud, the Veteran’s Administration is tasked with the impossible of digesting the tens of thousands of applications from current wars.

Government Agencies provide SERVICE!  Congress has chosen Government Agencies as TARGETS for their noble efforts to CUT COSTS necessary to run this nation.  The detail of where the money comes from is a disgusting excuse.  You and corporations don’t want to be taxed!  You and corporations don’t want to take any more loans from China or Saudi Arabia.  You and corporations don’t want to pay interest on the billions of dollars of US Treasury Bonds that are sold around the world.  So, with all of those barriers in place, the American public and American private will slide into a dark age of doing without, and enjoy the consequences.

The VA is suffering from the same attitude as most government agencies.  They are ambivalent about the job they do, because Congress has removed their ability to do a good job.  Cuts in funding and personnel have hamstrung their mission.  How can they take their jobs seriously when Congress is no longer answerable to the American Citizen, but gives that task to inadequate agencies.  Agencies have to beg for funding to do their jobs.  So, now the VA has been nailed for misappropriation of funds and is going through it’s own scandal at a critical time for returning veterans.

Uncounted Casualties: The War Within

“I am frequently frustrated in my ability to provide care,” said Washington, who has also been authorized to speak on behalf of the 600,000-member American Federation of Government Employees, the largest federal employees union.

Washington said VA schedulers are under enormous pressure to meet the VA’s 14-day deadline for new patients and this robs therapists of the ability to manage growing numbers of veterans requiring ongoing and lengthy counseling.

She said problems will persist “as long as scheduling continues to be driven by clerks pressured by management to make the numbers look good — and as long as mental health providers have little or no say about where and when to best serve patients.”

The VA director of mental health operations, Mary Schoen, says the department has increased its staffing by nearly 50% since 2006, and continues to look for ways to improve access to care. The VA’s failure, however, to acknowledge significant problems led committee member to question the credibility of Schoen and her staff.

Suicide among veterans receiving less attention than active-duty deaths

Many family members noticed dramatic changes in their loved ones after they returned from the war and before committing suicide.

Senate panel hears of battles for care by veterans with PTSD  –  Accounts of chronic staff shortages among Department of Veterans Affairs mental health staff and veterans discouraged over delays in therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder were brought before a Senate Veterans’ Affairs committee hearing today.

2009 photo by Jae C. Hong, AP

The U.S. government tests hundreds of Marines and soldiers before they ship out to help predict who is most susceptible to PTSD.

“Too often, I am told that the patient will have to wait as long as six weeks for the first appointment. But after waiting that long, many patients lose the motivation for treatment, or their PTSD worsens while they are waiting,” testified Michelle Washington, a coordinator of PTSD care at a VA hospital in Wilmington, Del.

Forty percent of about 600 Iraq- and Afghanistan-era veterans surveyed by the non-profit Wounded Warrior Project in recent weeks, and who were seeking VA mental health treatment, reportedly struggled in getting help. And among those, 40% received no therapy at all, said John Roberts, executive vice president of the organization.

Roberts called the survey result a “stark call-to-action.”

The committee has been pressing the VA hard in recent months on delays in treating mental health cases after a survey done within the department earlier this year showed that 70% of clinicians believe the VA lacks staffing or space to handle the mounting numbers of veterans seeking care.

It does not help veterans, but does play into the hands of stingy corporations, that there are professional scammers out there that “game” the system and collect fraudulent benefits.  These scammers commit fraud, rake in millions of dollars and ruin efforts of government agencies to serve the needs of valid claims.  Publicity about these scams are fodder for anti-government arguments.  Complaints that all government assistance is fraud and communism, throws accountability out the window.  There is more government support than meets the eye.  You may have enjoyed government assistance without even realizing it.

What some Americans don’t realize is that fraud becomes rampant when other services fail … like enforcement.  Today, we are enjoying the consequences of extreme right wing efforts to cut funding to those same government agencies that protect us.  Extremists enjoy saying “I told you so”, only after they made sure the failures will happen by cutting funding.  My conspiracy side tells me, that once enforcement was neutered, these same extremists took advantage and scammed money or benefits for themselves. You really have to look closely at these extremists and the arguments they present. The selfish attitude that lumps all recipients as leaches on society, is self serving to people who think they are special … some supreme being has endowed them with the ability to select who survives and who suffers.  These special people have a well know author and philosopher to give intellectual credence to their movement … Ayn Rand.  This was an author who was an elite industrialist, money motivated dreamer.  Absolutely nothing would stand in her way or her hero’s way to achieve their perception of success.  If you measure success by how many corpses mark your pathway to privilege, then you need to keep electing extremist ROBOT lawmakers to destroy government accountability, along with the environment, people and the health of planet Earth.

PTSD claims a very dear friend – I share my sadness   –  37 years suffering from PTSD, the VA finally re-evaluated and acknowledged his condition after 15 years of benefit applications.  My friend and neighbor was decorated Marine and a Tunnel Rat in Viet Nam.  His experiences were horrific.  By the time VA decided to help, the PTSD had progressed beyond drugs and therapy. My friend lived in drug induced limbo for another 17 years until a bureaucratic discrepancy denied his medications for 2 weeks.  By the time the medications were approved, my friend took his own life and left a note of apology to his family and friends.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is a lobbying group that calls itself “the voice of small business.”[1] However, the group has been shown to lobby on issues that favor large corporate interests and run counter to the interests of small businesses.[2][3] News reports have also found that NFIB, which claims to be non-partisan, engages in partisan politics, and receives millions in hidden contributions.

Small business owners run the gamut politically. For instance, 33 percent identify as Republicans, 32 percent as Democrats, and 29 percent as Independent.[4] However, NFIB accepted a $3.7 million gift in 2010 from Crossroads GPS, a group affiliated with Republican political operative Karl Rove that overwhelmingly endorses and financially supports Republican candidates.[5] According to new data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP), in 2010 the NFIB Small Business Legal Center (SBLC) received $1.15 million from “conservative 501(c)(3) conduit group” Donors Trust, a major contributor to the Koch brothersAmericans for Prosperity Foundation. Other contributions include the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, which gave to a wide range of conservative groups including the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).[6][7][8][9]

In June 2012, Congress launched an inquiry into NFIB’s hidden sources of funding, which include large individual donations of over $1 million. However, NFIB has refused to disclose its donors.[5][10]

A 2006 report quoted NFIB members who said the group was inflating its membership size of 650,000.[11] NFIB now claims 350,000 members.[12]

While the average small business owner makes slightly over $100,000,[13] NFIB filings with the IRS show that CEO Dan Danners salary in 2011 was $743,676.

Entities associated with NFIB include the SBLC,[14] the Young Entrepreneur Foundation,[15] NFIB Research Foundation,[16] and the Political Action Committee SAFE Trust (Save America’s Free Enterprise Trust).[17]

Romney: an “Investment” for the 1%?

    by Brendan Fischer

“People can invest what they want,” billionaire industrialist David Koch recently told Politico.

Koch wasn’t discussing the stock market or oil futures. He was talking money in politics: wealthy donors “investing” in elected officials, apparently with the expectation of getting a return. In total, donors like the Kochs, along with Sheldon Adelson, Harold Simmons, and “outside” groups have pledged to raise a total of $1 billion this election to elect Republicans, particularly President Barack Obama’s opponent Mitt Romney.

With support from these deep-pocketed outside donors and organizations, Romney could be the first candidate in modern history to outraise and outspend the incumbent president.

Review the Voter ID Laws for individual states here:  STATE Voter Identification Requirements

Latest News

September 4, 2012: The Dept. of Justice granted pre-clearance for New Hampshire’s voter ID law.

August 30, 2012: A federal district court in Washington, D.C. has denied pre-clearance for Texas’s voter ID law. Pre-clearance was denied by the U.S. Dept. of Justice in March 2012 and Texas applied to the court for reconsideration. Any appeal of today’s opinion would go to the U.S. Supreme Court.

August 22, 2012: The U.S. Department of Justice granted pre-clearance for Virginia’s amendment to its voter ID law, meaning it can be used in the November election. Virginia’s law is not as strict as the laws that were denied pre-clearance in South Carolina and Texas.

August 15, 2012: A State judge upheld Pennsylvania’s voter ID law. The case has been appealed to the state supreme court. View the opinion here.

June 27, 2012: The New Hampshire General Court overrode a gubernatorial veto of a voter ID bill. The state is subject to Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, so the new voter ID law cannot take effect unless preclearance is granted. It should be noted that New Hampshire’s new voter ID law differs in several important ways from the South Carolina and Texas laws rejected by the U.S. Department of Justice in recent months. One important difference is that voters who are unable to present photo ID at the polls will still be allowed to vote after signing an affidavit of identity.

March 12, 2012: A state judge ruled Wisconsin‘s voter ID law unconstitutional (read the opinion). Unless the state succeeds in obtaining an injunction blocking this order, Wisconsin’s new strict photo ID law will not be in effect for the April 3 presidential primary. Another state judge had issued a temporary stay in a separate case earlier in March (read the order).

March 12, 2012: The U.S. Department of Justice has denied pre-clearance for Texas’s new voter ID law, passed in 2011. Texas also filed suit with a three-judge panel seeking pre-clearance; a hearing on that should happen this Wednesday. Read more.

INFORMATION WILL BE UPDATED AS THEY OCCUR

So, it is very important to understand what you need to be allowed to vote, especially in Texas. Some business owners will pressure you to vote for their favorite candidate.  The law allows you to vote for whoever you want … even if you have to write their name on the ballot.

If the Texas Republican legislature decides it doesn’t  like the way you may vote, (because they think they know your mind), they will make it very hard for you to qualify.

Arrest Made in Voter Registration Fraud Case. There are plenty of people who understand how important your voting rights are, and will help you get your valid ID. But beware of private registration helpers contracted by the GOP. They may throw your application away of they think you will vote Democrat.  Colin Small, 31, Phoenixville, Pa was a Voter Registration Supervisor, employed by Pinpoint, an independent private organization contracted by the Republican Party of Virginia, for purposes of general voter registration.

The number of Florida counties reporting suspicious voter registration forms connected to Strategic Allied Consulting, the firm hired by the state Republican Party to sign up new voters, has grown to 10, officials said, as local election supervisors continue to search their forms for questionable signatures, addresses or other identifiers. … Strategic Allied was shown on a video outside a store in Colorado Springs recently telling a potential voter that she wanted to register only Republicans.

National Republican Voter Registration Strategy Includes Lying to Potential Voters About ‘Taking a Poll’ in Order to Screen Out Obama Supporters . Voter Registration workers employed by Strategic, and other Republican outfits, caught on video tape in a number of states, lying to potential registrants about being pollsters, rather than registration workers, in an attempt to keep Democratic-leaning voters from being able to register at all. The effort seems to be systematic and coordinated, as witnessed in states from Florida to Nevada to Virginia to Oregon and elsewhere.

Litigation has snared Texas’ plan to purge the dead from voter rolls. “Texas’ effort to clear the dead from its voting rolls is being challenged in state court, in the latest dust-up over who can cast votes this election season…Gov. Rick Perry recently asked county officials to send out written notices to Texans who might be deceased based on Social Security death records. The notices said people could be removed from the rolls if they didn’t verify within 30 days that they were alive and eligible to vote…But many people receiving the notices are in fact not dead, and a group of them in Austin sued, contending that the state initiative improperly risks disenfranchising voters.” Nathan Koppel and Tom Fowler in The Wall Street Journal..

Cowardly Congress Kicks The Can Again

September 26, 2012

This is absolutely horrible.  The survival of this United States of America is being patched with duct tape, chewing gum and paper clips … Congressional Stop Gap Measures are NOT solutions,  they are political tools to avoid responsibility.  They are political tools to damage progress that corporations fear.  So, to avoid responsibility, the 112th Congress has passed the buck.

Fiscal Year – is the accounting period for the federal government which begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2013 begins on October 1, 2012 and ends on September 30, 2013. Congress passes appropriations legislation to fund the government for every fiscal year.

What this congress does not want to do is help the American people.  They want Americans to suffer and blame it on our sitting president.

The current President of the United States is a humanist.  The Republican Candidate for President is a well meaning person, who has been misguided and confused by corrupt political manipulators. The candidate for Vice-President was a rabid member of the Atlas Society. But, for this election season, Paul Ryan denies his love for Ayn Rand and her philosophies. “I reject her philosophy,” Ryan says firmly.  Paul Ryan And Ayn Rand’s Ideas: In The Hot Seat Again.

In 2005, Paul Ryan, called Medicare and Social Security “third party or socialist-based systems”, “a welfare transfer system”. He said he wants to privatize them in order to “break the back” of a “collectivist philosophy.”  On recently transcribed remarks from an audio recording, Ryan said his ideas and values were shaped by an extremist author who thought humanity must “reject the morality of altruism,” and that his opinions on monetary policy are guided by a fictional speech which says “the words ‘to make money’ hold the essence of human morality.”

Why the hell is Ayn Rand such a magnetic influence on corporate philosophy?  Ayn Rand launched the argument between individualism vs. collectivism, as it applies to Capitalism.  It is wonderful that a business can produce a product that others want or need.  That business deserves a margin of profit for their efforts.  But, that business does NOT have a moral endorsement to damage people through misinformation, producing hazardous products that reduce the quality of life for unintended victims.  Business does NOT have the moral right to spoil the future of our children by spoiling the environment, to the point that food and water cannot be used to survive.

So, COWARDLY Lawmakers put the ONUS on the next flock of lawmakers. We, that means all voting Americans, have failed to elect statesmen/women to represent our interests.  We have elected a bunch of arrogant corporate puppet idiots, who behave like playground bullies. We have been mesmerized by issues fed to us by corporations who use psychological science to distract us from reality.

This election season, will be decisive for the next decade and the future of America.  How old will your children be in 10 years? What kind of world are you preparing for them? The Corporate Agenda is, and always has been, profit. Now, at any cost to the consumer, voter, American citizen, is the subject of corporate manipulation for profit.

In business, politics is the art of getting things done and reaping the benefits; it provides the power to get things done against opposition, avoiding negative implications and often producing positive effects in the career for the doer.

Our children are nothing more than target consumers for corporate profit goals. Anything and everything a company can do to influence the current generation and future generation, to buy or endorse their product, will be done.  Companies have endless resources to buy lawmakers who will nudge laws this way and that way to promote their profit agenda … and stake a foothold in future markets. The only competitor for American Corporate influence is the Illegal Drug Industry.  Yes, drug lords have endless disposable cash to smooth their way into lucrative markets in America and other countries.  Drug Lords cannot afford for certain drugs to be legalized.  That would injure their profit margin.  So, Drug Lords invest cash into American Politics and American Weapons industries to hedge their bets against inevitable drug busts.  That is good business practice.

If you don’t have children, then your neighbor’s children will be deciding how you spend your “golden years”.  Since our education system is so politicized and our children are being taught shallow commercial interests and religious interests, instead of life skills, your elder years will be nothing but corporate commercial support systems with an evangelical twist. Wow, you are going to have to fit into one of the acceptable categories of the moment in order to survive.  Your rights as a human will be determined by how much you can contribute to the corporate profit needs or which evangelical movement can count you among their flock.

Congress Adopts Stopgap Budget as Lawmakers Eye Campaigns

Congress adopted a stopgap budget measure to fund the federal government’s day-to-day operations before lawmakers adjourned to campaign for the Nov. 6 election.  The Senate voted 62-30 early today to clear legislation that would give most agencies a 0.6 percent budget increase after the start of the fiscal year until March 27, 2013.

Senate passes funding bill to avoid October 1 government shutdown

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A deeply divided and unproductive Congress wrapped up its final business before November’s elections early on Saturday as the U.S. Senate passed a stopgap measure to fund federal programs and avoid an October 1 government shutdown.  The 62-30 vote on the funding bill, which now moves to President Barack Obama’s desk to be signed into law, was delayed by days of partisan bickering over votes on unrelated measures aimed at boosting both Democrats’ and Republicans’ political fortunes.

US Congress passed deal to avert shutdown and begin campaign

Democrats and Republicans in the US Congress have agreed a compromise spending bill to avoid a government shutdown.  The 62-30 vote averts the possibility of US federal agencies shutting down because of a lack of guaranteed funding on 1 October.  The package must now be signed by President Barack Obama.

Ask a family who has had a loved one killed in action in the Persian Gulf what the real cost of cheap gas and oil is. Remember that every time you fill up your car or your furnace part of your tank was paid for with the blood of a fellow American who was someone’s son/daughter, husband/wife, father/mother.

Retail politics has hidden costs and caveats. We, the public, people, community experience the retail markup after the wholesalers and distributors get their cut of the profit.

WIKI: Retail is the sale of goods and services from individuals or businesses to the end-user.

WIKI: Wholesaling, jobbing, or distributing is defined as the sale of goods or merchandise to retailers, to industrial, commercial, institutional, or other professional business users, or to other wholesalers and related subordinated services.[1] In general, it is the sale of goods to anyone other than a standard consumer.

Corporate Politics:

What they say about corporate politics

  • In business, politics is the art of getting things done and reaping the benefits; it provides the power to get things done against opposition, avoiding negative implications and often producing positive effects in the career for the doer.
  • The informal, unwritten procedures for making things happen or not happen in an organization.
  • The unwritten and hardly ever spoken-out-loud norms of conducting oneself in order to successfully achieve one’s goals and be rewarded for the achievement.

What I say about corporate politics

  • Al the above is true.
  • It happens in any company, big or small.
  • It’s not too different from lobbies in “real” politics.
  • Don’t fool yourself: You do need to play the game.

The consumer in this process is the American Voter. If you resign yourself to the decisions of corporations, and if you fail to vote, you have NO right to complain.

Will whoever wins the US election find themselves with the unenviable task of overseeing the decline of the US?
