Pillage and Plunder Precedes Revolt – Op Ed

February 4, 2009

PLUNDER = LOOT:

  • loot: goods or money obtained illegally
  • plunder: steal goods; take as spoils; “During the earthquake people looted the stores that were deserted by their owners”
  • plundering: the act of stealing valuable things from a place

PILLAGE = LOOTING:

The taking by violence of private property by a victorious army from the citizens or subjects of the enemy. This, in modern times, is seldom allowed, and then, only when authorized by the commander or chief officer, at the place where the pillage is committed. The property thus violently taken in general belongs to the common soldiers. See Dall. Dict. Propriete, art. 3, Sec. 5; Wolff, Sec. 1201; and Booty; Prize.

REVOLT = 1: to renounce allegiance or subjection (as to a government) : rebel 2 a: to experience disgust or shock b: to turn away with disgust

REBELLION is, in the most general sense, a refusal to accept authority. It may therefore be seen as encompassing a range of behaviours from civil disobedience to a violent organized attempt to destroy established authority. It is often used in reference to armed resistance against an established government, but can also refer to mass nonviolent resistance movements. Those who participate in rebellions are known as “rebels”

Corporate social responsibility (CSR, also called corporate responsibility, corporate citizenship, responsible business and corporate social opportunity[1]) is a concept whereby organizations consider the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of their activities on customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders, communities and other stakeholders, as well as the environment.

WIKI describes ELITISM as situations in which an elite individual assumes special privileges and responsibilities in the hope that this arrangement will benefit humanity or themselves. At times, elitism is closely related to social class and what sociologists call social stratification. Members of the upper classes are sometimes, though inaccurately, known as the social elite. The term elitism is also sometimes used to denote situations in which a group of people claiming to possess high abilities or simply an in-group or cadre grant themselves extra privileges at the expense of others. This form of elitism may be described as discrimination.capitalist-greed

The news  today is rampant with examples of the ‘HAVES‘ flaunting their privileges to the ‘HAVE NOTS’.  The HAVE NOTS  are watching their obligatory TAX DOLLARS siphoned into the pockets of the HAVES.

Haves and Have-Nots: Income Inequality in America

What we are witnessing today is classic out-of-touch ignorance demonstrated by the recipiants of our bailout money.  These privileged, arrogant, leaders of crumbling industry appear to be the last to realize they are eating their own ‘GOLDEN GOOSE’.  Their last hurrah of delusion is headlined daily.  StimulousWatch.org is showing how political pork and selfish corporate claims are flushing our survival down the toilet.  Executive perks and salaries demonstrate the disparity.  Yes, there must be a reality adjustment for the CEO and the common taxpayer alike.  Americans are getting a taste of what the rest of the world has experienced, without the bloodshed … yet.  A major re-think is in the works.  Capitalism is on the block. Democracy is on the block.

History shows what happened to Czar Nicholas.  Has anyone researched the parallels to America today?  The gap between the social and economic classes is widening in this country.  The working classes backs are breaking.

Iraq Auditor Warns of Waste, Fraud In Afghanistan

Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Mo) says that Harry Truman has been rolling in his grave for the past five years and that he would be astounded at the fact that “we allowed this problem to get this far out of control. This has been a massive failure. We have failed our military, and we have failed the American people.” She emphasized that accountability is missing with this situation.

This time, war is not the panacea for economic superiority.  War is the problem.  War profiteers have robbed civilization of it’s future.  Civilization is on the block, too.  Corporate Greed is on trial.

Waste, Fraud and Abuse of power and privilege are the enemies for our survival!  Disparity has infected all levels of business without ethics.  Medical; Education; Pentagon; all levels of government are suspect.

bonuses_bailouts_090204_mnThe opportunity is now.  Accountability and responsibility must be the top of the agenda, not only for America, but the entire world.  Republicans are crying foul because Democrats are attempting to “spend” our way OUT of the crisis that Republicans ”
spent” our way in to.  The pot is calling the kettle black.  Republicans and weakened Democrats allowed a decade of outrageous waste, fraud, abuse of taxpayer money and abuse of privilege.  Republicans are shamefully trying to sell us the delusion that there is NO cause and effect from their actions.  They accept NO responsibility for the behavior that brought catastrophe.  They cannot justify repair.  Granted, close scrutiny of the small print reveals PORK.  Cleaned up, printing MORE MONEY for repair is better than printing that money for inaction.  We cannot reward those who put us here.
