Letter to John Cornyn
In response to today’s Cornyn newsletter: “Additionally, it concerns me that the Democrats’ proposed economic stimulus package is being written behind closed doors with little input from outside parties. I will continue to be your strongest advocate for a more open and transparent government that allows American taxpayers to know how their hard-earned dollars are being spent.”
Regarding your concern “… the Democrats’ proposed economic stimulus package is being written behind closed doors with little input from outside parties.”
The stimulus package being proposed addresses domestic issues sorely neglected by the previous administration. I recall the same complaint about “behind closed doors” Republican meetings regarding war issues that siphoned taxpayer monies into the pockets of private contractors and too often neglected actual military resources.
Please be open to the ‘extraordinary’ measures necessary to recover our ship of state and it’s passengers. The task ahead is responsible for a balancing act between the American public and foreign military engagements.
I no longer affiliate with either party at this time, so I will implore you to represent my concerns as serious and practical. The next decade will determine whether America lives or dies at the hands of personal gain interests.
Please refrain from using catch words like communism or socialism. These words inflame the uneducated. Please hear out whatever these ‘clandestine’ meetings present and offer constructive criticism as an American first and Republican last.
Thank you for listening
