Lawmaker Imposes Christian Dominionist Theocracy On Texas

November 12, 2008

AUSTIN – Women who want to terminate their pregnancy in Texas would be required to listen for the heartbeat and get ultrasound images made of the fetus before undergoing the procedure, under new anti-abortion measures proposed Monday.

It was one of dozens of measures unveiled on the first day to file bills before Texas lawmakers meet in regular session early next year.

State Rep. Frank Corte, R-San Antonio, filed the bill seeking the new “informed consent” requirements for women who seek an abortion. Corte’s policy director, Kathi Seay, said the legislation “is not to encourage or discourage anything, it’s just to make sure they have all the information they need.” Abortion rights advocates called the legislation “politically divisive” and vowed to mount a vigorous effort to defeat it.

“It’s something that we will absolutely be fighting,” said Sara Cleveland, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Texas. Cleveland predicted that conservatives would have a tougher time this year passing abortion curbs because Democrats, generally more liberal on reproductive rights, increased their numbers in the state House and Senate.

Representative Frank J. Corte, Jr. repeatedly refused to provide any responses to citizens on the issues through the 2008 Political Courage Test when asked to do so by national leaders of the political parties, prominent members of the media, Project Vote Smart President Richard Kimball, and Project Vote Smart staff.

2007 Based on a point system, with points assigned for actions in support of or in opposition to NARAL Pro-Choice Texas‘s position, Representative Corte received a rating of 0.

2005 supported the interests of the Texas Right to Life Committee 100 percent.

What is Dominionism? Palin, the Christian Right, & Theocracy by cberlet   Sep 05, 2008:  Sarah Palin is a “Dominionist” with an apocalytic End Times theological viewpoint that sees the war in Iraq as part of God’s plan.  More on the End Times in the next post. Let’s talk about Christian Right Dominionism and tendencies toward authoritarian theocratic governance.

This highly politicized concept of dominionism is based on the Bible’s text in Genesis 1:26:

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (King James Version).

The vast majority of Christians read this text and conclude that God has appointed them stewards and caretakers of Earth. As Sara Diamond explains, however, some Christian read the text and believe, “that Christians alone are Biblically mandated to occupy all secular institutions until Christ returns.” That, in a nutshell, is the idea of “dominionism.”

I find it reprehensible to force religious dogma onto individuals who are going through an emotional decision, already.  Are Dominionist Christians trying to play catch up with Sharia Law?

Is the United States of America going to allow theocratic social control onto everyone?  America is a nation of LAWS, designed to serve EVERYONE, not the FEW.  When did I loose free choice?  When did the US Declaration of Independence and Constitution morph into Sharia Law?  Christian extremists have no place in my bedroom, inside my body or inside my head.

There is great debate in Britain, whether Muslim Sharia Law must be imposed upon non-Muslims.  There should definitely be great debate about Christian dogma applied to non-Christians.

This proposal constitutes nothing more than legalized torture.  This is a remnant of pandering to an extreme faction within these United States.  IWILLNOT live under a theocracy!

At peace with God as I understand the concept, I behave according to humanitarian spiritual ethics.  Why can’t these pinhead lawmakers get it?  Such a narrow definition of right and wrong appears to apply to everyone else, but not them!

If these lawmakers get away with this, there will be a Constitutional Crisis.  Next, this state will devolve into passing laws forbidding bi-racial marriage, forbidding bi-religious marriage, forbidding science, chopping off hands of thieves and genitals of rapists (well maybe not a bad idea), etc.  If these kind of Christians worked as hard to control their own contradictory sinful behavior, they would not have time to terrorize everyone else!

The core theme of dominion theology is that the Bible mandates Christians to take over and “occupy” secular institutions.

Dominion Theology is a grouping of theological systems with the common belief that society should be governed exclusively by the law of God as codified in the Bible, to the exclusion of secular law.

Sharia Law – source and definitions:

The term “Sharia” (a.k.a. Shari’a) literally means “the path to a watering hole.” The Guardian newspaper in the UK describes Sharia as: “… a religious code for living, in the same way that the Bible offers a moral system for Christians.”  It is used to refer both to the Islamic system of law and the totality of the Islamic way of life. Sharia is derived both from:

The teachings of the Qur’an. This is the Muslim holy book, which corresponds to the Jews’ Torah and the Christians’ Holy Bible. Muslims believe that the Qur’an is the Word of God, as dictated to the prophet Muhammad by the angel Gabriel.

From Sunna, which is referred to as Islamic “Custom or practice; particularly that associated with the exemplary life of the Prophet Muhammad, comprising his deeds and utterances as recorded in the hadith.” The hadith literally means “report” or “narrative”.

American Conservatives have been hi-jacked by Dominionists who focus on social conservativism instead of fiscal conservatism.  The Republican Party used to be the caretakers of our economy.  Things have been changed dramatically.  Now Republicans represent a population that wants to control my genitals, my love interests, my education, and my right to be an American. This same self-righteous group cannot even control its own humanity, but it wants to control mine.  Imposing a law that requires a pregnant woman to endure the traumatic requirement to listen to a heartbeat and watch an ultra sound, is nothing more than terrorism.  Dominionists appear to get pleasure out of torturing people who believe or think for themselves … THAT is sick!  Making the choice for abortion is a traumatic event to begin with.  That choice is never made lightly.  I do not believe America should endorse torture of any kind!  Do NOT allow this disgusting measure become a real bill.

THIS IS THEIR PLAN!.
